Recently my Thunderbird app automatically updated then wanted me to restart Thunderbird to install the update. No problem. Until it restarted, applied the update (progress bar appeared) then gave me a warning saying that Thunderbird needs to be shut down before restarting. Of course it's shut down I just resarted it. Well this cycle wen on and on until I found this article:
http://www.ask.com/web?qsrc=2990&o=ffx&l=dir&q=thunderbird+update+failed+dialog+box
I started to fix by renaming
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Thunderbird\Mozilla Thunderbird
to
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Thunderbird\Mozilla Thunderbird old.
When I clicked ok on the dialog box, Thunderbird started right up and created a new
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Thunderbird\Mozilla Thunderbird
folder.
OK. but now there is another Software update window. Do I dare click it?
What the heck!
I'll update this post if anything bad happens
Now this post might not be about HeatMiser or saving gas or home heating efficiency but it is part of my experiences as a new online business owner so it's fair game. Besides, someone might actually need this fix for their Thunderbird and find it on my blog. That would be cool.
